His Song Piano offers gentle and quality piano lessons that encourage learning while having fun. It is a program specifically designed to build character, discipline, and enjoyment of music. The foundation of the instruction is a weekly private lesson which emphasizes strong note reading, theory, technique, interpretation and performance skills. Motivation is enhanced by weekly prizes and awards throughout the year. Several performance opportunities are scheduled.
Dimitra has a Piano Pedagogy Certificate and has been teaching for over 20 years in the private school sector as well as maintaining her own private studio. His Song incorporates several types of music in the program, from Jazz to the Classics. Every genre has its own unique way of teaching rhythm, technique, and interpretation.
I usually use method books that are appropriate for each student. I don't think a method book or one particular teaching style
can be generically used for every student. Each student is different, and unique and should be approached from that angle.

Each student receives a 30 minute private weekly piano lesson. 45 minute lessons are offered to the advancing student. (usually about level 2)
It is imperative that the student have a piano or a keyboard to practice on. If a keyboard is used, make sure it has 88 keys and they are weighted. Fully weighted keys are designed to replicate the weight and playing action of the acoustic hammer-action keys. This will allow the student to exercise their fingers and have more fluency in their playing.
